In the spring of 1836, John and Sarah Collins removed with their family to Hardin County, locating in Round Head Township, where he entered 120 acres of land, for which he paid $1.25 per acre.
He lived to enjoy pioneer life but a short time, dying on the 9th of August, 1837.
He left a wife and nine children, one of whom was born after his death. All of the nine children lived to maturity, and are scattered in various parts of the country.
