Hi John, I'm Mary, a Mentor. Some helps for you:

Our goal is to build one tree with just one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

Adding DOB, DOD, locations attached to every person assists all of us! Ancestor less than 200 years old on WikiTree, contact the PM for trusted access.

Check out a step-by-step guide to get you started. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/How_to_use_WikiTree#Getting_Started

We also have Help Index with links to topics you may have questions.

Don't forget G2G Forum- many members help each other.

My advice, go slow as your add your family. More questions: drop a note on my page. ~Mary

Hello everyone! I've gotten into the search to create my own family tree over the last year and am finding it to be a fascinating pastime. Now that I'm retired I have time to pursue the search and I really, really enjoy it. It's fascinating discovering the people you never knew, where they really lived and how we're all so interconnected. Maybe someone can help me on the one family line I'm stuck on, or maybe I can help somebody else.

Hi John,

Welcome as a guest to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

1. Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum.

2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute, leave a comment in the box on the left and click the volunteer link and to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.

Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
