Edward Joseph Flemming was born in October 1902 in Western Australia. He was the son of Edward Gilbert Ridge Flemming and his wife Elizabeth Hannah (nee Smith)
Edward Joseph Flemming, known as Ted, was an Australian Rules footballer who played 229 games for West Perth Football Club from 1922 to 1938. This was in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) - later named the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). He topped the league's goal kicking list in 1925 with 50 goals. He also notably won the Sandover Medal in 1930 as the fairest and best player in the West Australian Football League. He captained West Perth in the 1931 season and played in three premiership teams during the 1930s. And was a dual West Perth Football Club Best and fairest winner,
In the year 2000, Ted Flemming was also named as a half back flanker in West Perth's official 'Team of the 20th Century'. And was Inducted into the West Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2007
In 1924 Edward Joseph Flemming married Lillian Annie Martha Edwards. They divorced in 1945. Ted Flemming served in the RAAF during World War II, and was based in Eastern Victoria and later worked at Essendon Aerodrome in the early 1960s.
Edward Joseph Flemming aged 84 years passed away in July 1987, in the district of Eden in New South Wales Australia. He was laid to rest at the Pambula Cemetery, in Pambula, New South Wales, Australia.
