David Farrell is Notable.

David Farrell was born on 5 September 1891 at Eidsvold, Queensland. He was the son of Joseph McKinnon Farrell and Mary MacLaughlin. His father was a miner at Eidsvold, and later settled at Howard, Queensland.

After leaving school, he worked for the Queensland Colliery Company, rising from pit boy to engine driver. He was the secretary of the Howard branch of the Federated Engine Driver and Firemen's Association.

In World War 1, he volunteered for the First A.I.F., serving for 4 years in France and Belgium with the 42nd Battalion, reaching the rank of sergeant.

On 12 June 1923, aged 31, he married Margretta Maud Lillian McKenzie.

He became president of the Howard branch of the Australian Labor Party. In 1938, he won the seat of Maryborough for Labor in the Queensland Legislative Assembly, which he retained until his death.

He passed away on 17 August 1953 at Demaine Private Hospital, Maryborough, Queensland, aged 61. His death was unexpected, after he suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. He was survived by his wife, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers. He was buried at Maryborough Cemetery.
