Charles Pierre Frédy de Coubertin est né le 1er janvier 1863, 20 rue Oudinot à Paris (7ème arrondissement). Il est le fils de Charles Louis, baron Frédy de Coubertin, et d'Agathe Marie Marcelle Gigault de Crisenoy[1].

Il a épousé Marie Rothan le 11 mars 1895 à Paris (8ème arrondissement)[2].

Biography

  • Most notable for establishing the modern Olympics - "Father of the modern Olympic Games" - and served as President of the IOC until 1925 and was then named Honorary President for Life
  • s/o Charles de Frédy (Baron de Coubertin) and Marie–Marcelle Gigault de Crisenoy[3][4]
  • 1872, living with the family in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse[5] - listed as Pierre Frédy de Coubertin, 8.

It would be useful to note that Pierre de Coubertin is a criticized figure (though recent researches rather tend to have qualified conclusions about him). Alongside quite of his time reactionary ideas (misogyny, colonialism, racism) that has been shortly said in English bio here, De Coubertin notably gave a not so discrete support to Nazis during the 1936 summer games. It is not about dispense good or bad points, but a good and serious biography should not overlook such thematics.
