When Plata Davis was born on March 2, 1808, in Kentucky, her father, John, was 28, and her mother, Margaret, was 24. She married David Reynolds on June 1, 1826, in Clark, Illinois. They had at least 14 children during their marriage. She died on December 9, 1855, in (the area that is now) Douglas, Illinois, at the age of 47, and was buried in Clark, Illinois.[1]
After her death, her widower husband remarried in 1856 to Mrs Dolly Davis, who was widow of Plata's brother, Haywood Davis.
