Biography

Born 28 December 1792 and publically received on 24 March 1793 at Stogursey in northern Somerset, the son of Thomas and Sarah Davis. He had been privately baptised on 28 December 1792.^[1]

Thomas married Mary Stacey on 20 January 1818, also at Stogursey.^[2] The couple had three daughters (Sarah 1818-1826, Ann 1819-1882, Jane 1821-1902) and a son (Eli, 1826-1909). England census records (1841, 1851, 1861) indicate that the family lived at Stolford, a small village in the north of the parish of Stogursey. Eli married and moved to Australia in 1850. Second daughter Ann remained with her parents. None of the daughters married.

No record found yet of his death. Thomas, Mary (wife) and Ann (daughter) lived together in the 1861 census, Thomas was 69. Ann lived alone in another village near her sister Jane in the 1871 and 1881 censuses, both living on an annuity.
