Biography

Thomas was born in 1798. He passed away in 1868.

Notes from family letters tell a story of Thomas' gr-grandfather's arrival in North America. His name: David Cornog (1693-1780). A good number of records in and around Chester Pennslvania for David Cornrog. Anyway, the story goes that Thomas's father, David (1767-1834), moved his family from Pennsylvania to Ohio in 1816 and changed his name from Cornog to "Cornick".

• among other things, Thomas' fag page says... quote...Obit in the "Daily Gazette and Argus" Burlington, Iowa newspaper dated 6-3-1868 (microfilm roll 68 Burlington Iowa Library): "In this city, June 2nd, (1868). Mr Thomas Cornick, in the seventieth year of his age. The funeral will take place at 4 o'clock this afternoon from the residence of Mr. D. Burhans, on north hill. - transcriber's note: Mr. D Burhans is husband to Thomas's daughter Clarissa... unquote.^[5]
