Sir Douglas Berry Copland KBE CMG was born on 24th February 1894 in Otaio, South Canterbury, New Zealand. He was the thirteenth of sixteen children of Alexander Copland and Annie Loudon. [1]
Douglas married Ruth Victoria Jones] on 28 Jan 1919 at Waimate. [2][3]
Douglas was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the New Year Honours 1933 for his service as Professor of Commerce at Melbourne University, [4] and created Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in the King's Birthday Honours 1950 in rcognition of his service as Prices Commissioner & Vice-Chancellor of the ANU. [5]
Douglas died on 27 September 1971 in Kyneton, Victoria. [6] He is buried in Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Springvale, Dandenong. [7]
