I attempted to change my names, b both first and last, but it didn't stick. Clearly I missed a step or misunderstood David's advice.

Oh gosh it looks as if I have erred twice already; 1. I did not use my last name and 2. I am most certainly not a Genealogist. I apologize. I will try to follow David's advice on how to correct my name, but not sure how too removed myself from the Honor Code

Hi Maureen,

Since my family, not myself, has done some work on our family tree through Ancestry I am only here to verify some of the family names and dates, but would like to find a way to read more about family education, employment, status etc. If there is a manner to do this, please include a link or however it is done here. The only reason I gave my name as it is was because to was offered as a suggestion when signing up and because I am very concerned about my online tracking

Thanks

Hi R, nice to meet you!

You will find the help files under the small Help drop down menu at the right top of your and all profiles.

You will find the TOS here Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy and at the bottom of all pages.

The success of WikiTree is based on its community of volunteer genealogists (see the member gallery for a few) but there is a small team that supports the community. Team members are not full-time employees. They are free-lancers who work part-time hours to support and empower WikiTree's volunteers. Help:WikiTree Team

You may want to put a single surname in the Last Name at Birth field. Typically, this should be the surname on your birth certificate. This will ensure that your profile is listed on the correct surname page with other members and ancestors who also have that surname. Click here for Help:Correcting a Last Name at Birth.

Our name displays can be found at Name Displays and naming conventions can be found at Name Fields. If you have ever used other surnames, they can be entered in the Current Last Name field or the Other Last Names field.

If you are concerned about Privacy, click the Privacy tab on your profile or visit our Help:Privacy page to read about how the different settings work.

Hi R,

Thank you for signing the WikiTree Honor Code! We're happy to have you as a new Wiki Genealogist.

Make sure to check out the Intro to WikiTree page to learn how to get involved: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:How_to_Use_WikiTree

At WikiTree we use our own names on our profiles or we use specific words that work with our privacy system. If you would like to "anonymize" your name, you can use Anonymous or an initial for either your first or last name, but not both, please. If your "alias" is truly a nickname, you can put that in the Preferred Name field.

Try to put as much of your real name as you feel comfortable making public. Do not use a fake name under any circumstances. See our help page on Name Displays. We are a friendly community here.

Best wishes

Maureen ~ WikiTree Greeter
