Hi Jane, Thanks for self certifying for pre-1700!

I had a quick look at your application and your source is an unreliable one and not suitable for pre-1700 profiles. Please could you take another look at the reliable sources page? England profiles of this era fall under the England Project, so their guidelines are the ones to follow. Have fun!

Kind regards, Gill

Thank you for the reminder. I am new to pre-1700 sources & will try to remember to add more reliable sources.

Hello, Jane!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

My apologies, I am new to this & will try to add more reliable sources. It began as a pet project, but has expanded. Thanks for the reminder

Hello Jane!

You've been a member for a few weeks so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

A belated welcome to WikiTree, Jane! I see that you joined several months ago but did not receive the usual e-mail we send out to new members. So, here it is now:

I recommend starting with our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you create your family profiles. Building your family tree on WikiTree will help you connect with others who have the same ancestors.

Need help? Just ask!

Above all, have FUN! I hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have!

Kind regards, Vicky Majewski ~ WikiTree Greeter & Member since August 2015

P.S. If you ever get a "Page Not Found" error when you click a link in a WikiTree email, you can usually find a functioning link in the public comments of your profile

Hi Jane,

I can see that you have created several duplicates in the Wells family. Of course this may happen as sometimes duplicates are not easily identifiable, but in this case it looks like some potential duplicates were rejected outright when creating the new profiles. Please do check carefully, before creating a new profile, that there is not already a profile for this person. If there is already a profile, do not create another one; connect your family line to it instead. See Help: Adding Family and Help:Merging. Thank you !
