Printed in the Warwick Examiner and Times (Qld) on 12 July 1915 STOCKWELL - COLLINGS A pretty wedding, one of interest to a large circle of friends, was quietly celebrated on Saturday, July 3 by the Rev. W. P, Glover at St. Mark's Church. The bride, Miss Edith Ethel Collings is the second daughter of Mr. T. H. Collings of Townsville and the bridegroom, Mr. Fred. W. Stockwell, second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Stockwell, “Beaumont”, Warwick. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr W. Collins wore a dainty gown of cream silk poplin. The bodice in cross-over effect revealed a vest of filmy pleated chiffon strapped with cream velvet and finished with a pleated chiffon medici collar. The skirt was made with a long tunic caught at side with cream chiffon roses. Her hat was trimmed with roses and choux of cream tulle to harmonise, and she carried a lovely bouquet of shaded pink roses, the gift of the bridegroom. Miss May Collins, Jew’s Retreat, a girl friend of the bride, attended as bridesmaid, and Mr. A. L. Collins (cousin of the bride) as best man. The bridesmaid was frocked in cream crepe de chene, the soft bodice completed with a broad swathed belt, and over the flared skirt was worn as a long tunic. A smart hat of white felt, ornamented at side with pink roses, finished the costume. Her posy was composed of white roses with centre cluster of pink roses, which, with her gold tourmaline brooch, were the gifts of the bridegroom. After the ceremony the guests left for "Colinora." the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. Collins, where the wedding breakfast was served. A handsome three-tiered wedding cake (made by the aunt of the bride, Mrs. W. Collins) occupied the central position of honour on the bride's table, which was decorated with roses in their varying shades. Later, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Stockwell left for Brisbane and the seaside, the bride travelling in a smart navy tailored suit with toque of navy velvet relieved with ostrich feather.
She passed away in 1974.
