William married Eliza Abbey on the 2nd March 1840 in Clonegal, County Carlow. [1]
He was deceased before his wife's death in 1891. [2]
Research Notes
He is recorded as John Colclough on his son John's marriage register [3] but as William on his daughter Margaret's. [4]
If the traditional naming pattern was followed his name was William as his his son John's first son was named William (traditionally the first son is called after the father's father) and his daughter Margaret's second son was also named William (traditionally the second son is called after the mother's father).
According to family stories, he was a relative of the Colclough Baronets of Tintern Abbey. [5]
