Thomas Cocke's will was admitted to probate 1707. He appointed his son Thomas his executor, and his "beloved friends Thomas Farrar, Littlebury Epes and Sam'l Harwood (his brother-in-law), Gent., overseers of his last will and testament". He left six children: Thomas, James Powell, Henry, Brassuir, Mary, Elizabeth.

His wife (Frances) had a separate estate settled on her by her father, which she retains intact.

The testator first devises 650 acres of land to his son Thomas; then to James Powell Cock the tract on which testator lives (Malvern Hills); also another tract of 200 acres to same; and also to said James Powell Cocke a third tract lying in Charles City County, containing 920 acres; to son Henry he gives a tract of land in Henrico and another tract containing 943 acres; to Brassuir two tracts, containing 1650 acres. He devises in all about 6,000 acres of land in Henrico, and another tract containing 943 acres; to Brassuir two tracts, containing 1650 acres. He devises in all about 6,000 acres of land. He gives land, Negroes, tobacco and money to his two daughters, and certain Negroes to his sons, and divides, excepting certain special legacies, all his personal property equally among the four sons with certain provisions for the support of his daughters.

As Thomas receives much less land than the other sons, it is probable (he was older) that he had been advanced in the testator's life-time.

Is there a reliable source for the name suffix "II" that shows he was referred to by this suffix during his life? If not, it should be removed.

no son William named in will, and William Cocke-553, attached as son, is born 1670, when Thomas was 8. Could you look to see where he should be? Thanks!

Cocke-549 and Cocke-296 appear to represent the same person because: these appear to be duplicates (dates/family appear to match). Please merge if you agree. Thanks!

I can see from the material posted in the biography, there is quite a bit of updating to do with better sourced information re: parents and children. It is on my to do list - will require a fairly big block of time - verifying profiles haven't already been created, etc; trying to better understand parents that are showing, etc. Checking other source materials.

this online tree says Frances Anderson married (2) Thomas Cocke about 1705 & (3) Joshua Wynne about 1710. (Her first husband is listed as John Herbert.)

Text has that Thomas Cocke married (2) Frances.

(Text also has his father as Richard. Also, the separate estate that Frances retained intact may have been from her first husband rather than father. The site referenced has language about her 3rd marriage that's essentially a prenup.)
