Lizzie (Coates) Simpson is a part of US Black heritage.

Lizzie (Coates) Simpson was a Kentuckian.

Lizzie was born about 1890 to Charlie and Mary Coats in Cumberland County, Kentucky.

In the 1930 census she had a boarder, Duff (age 45) who was the married boarder in Danville, Boyle, Kentucky, United States.^[1]

On 10 Dec 1938, she married Duffy Simpson in the Baptist Church, Danville, KY, by Rev. W Edward. This was her second marriage. The marriage certificate names her parents as Charlie and Mary Coats, and her name as Lizzie Dell Coates Mays, born in Cumberland County in 1889. ^[2]

In the 1940 census Lizzie (age 50) was the wife of Duff Simpson in Magisterial District 6, Boyle, Kentucky, United States.^[3]

Death

Lansing State Journal 7 May 1972, "Services for Mrs. Lizzie Simpson, 83, 1214 Greenwood, will be held at 1 pm Monday in the Riley Funeral Home. Mrs. Simpson died Friday in local hospital. She had been a resident of Lansing for 10 years, coming here from Dansville (sic) KY. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Lucy Brand of Lansing; five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister; and a brother."^[4]
