Biography

Eliza (Clark) Mobberley was born in Rodborough, Gloucestershire, England.

Eliza Ann Clark was born on about 7 March 1863, her birth being registered at Stroud, Gloucestershire in the 2nd quarter of that year^[1]. She was the daughter of Stephen Clark and Ellen Slade.

She was baptised on 24 May 1863 at Rodborough, Gloucestershire, England^[2].

Eliza (Clark) Mobberley migrated from England to New Zealand.

Eliza (aged 12) emigrated from England to New Zealand with her parents and eight siblings, travelling on the ship Zealandia. They sailed from Gravesend on 10 July 1874, and arrived into Auckland on 15 October 1874, under Captain G Sellars, after a passage of 96 days^[4][5]:

On 6 November 1880 she married John Waltho Mobberley in Thames, Coromandel. They had about nine children, including:

5. Gertrude Mobberley (b. 23 May 1887,m. William L. Hunwick, d. 25 Jan 1936)
6. William Mobberley (b. abt. 1889)
7. Mary Ellen Mobberley (b. 2 Apr 1891, m. 1909 Arthur Charles Anderson, d. 5 Oct 1981)
8. Sydney "Sid" Thomas Mobberley (b. 11 Jun 1894, d. 13 May 1969)
9. Henry "Harry" Woltho Mobberley (b. 11 Mar 1899, d. 7 May 1985)

Eliza and her husband emigrated from England to Australia in about 1886. Her husband John died in 1925.

In the 1930 Australia, Electoral Rolls (1903-1980), Eliza Ann Mobberley was recorded living at Boronia, Mascot, Cook, New South Wales.

Eliza Ann Mobberley passed away on 22 October 1947 at 42 Roslyn Street, Mascot, New South Wales, Australia at the age of 84, and was buried in Rookwood General Cemetery in Rookwood, New South Wales^[10]. PLOT: Zone C Anglican Section 7 Grave 2630

Pearce, 42 Roslyn Street, Mascot, Eliza Ann Mobberley, dearly beloved wife of the late John Waltho Mobberley and loving mother of Lillian, Edwin, Gertrude (deceased), William, Mary, Sydney, and Harry, aged 84 years. At rest.^[11]
