Hi Mark,

Just checking in for the Mayflower Project. Please let me know if you're still interested in being part of the project.

Thanks,

Hi Mark,

There’s still plenty of work to do on the "Mayflower" Roger’s Family profiles. We would love to have your help. If you have ancestors in another family, we will begin working on other families soon. Note: From the Project FAQ regarding Project badges, ... are for active members of a project. They should be reserved for members who participate and contribute to the project goals.

Send me a private message and let me know where and how you would like to help.

Hello Mark,

Would you like to be seen on WikiTree as one of the "go-to" people for your Mayflower ancestor, Thomas Rogers? The Mayflower Project would like to involve you in a new effort to update Mayflower profiles and establish Mayflower passenger "Teams", beginning with the Rogers family.

Goal: Every project profile will have an accurate, written biography, with inline citations, using primary sources and reliable secondary sources.

I hope that you will be eager to contribute towards this goal starting with the family of your ancestor, Thomas Rogers. Please send me a private message and let me know your thoughts? Once I know you are interested in helping, I will send you an invitation to join the Mayflower Google group. When you accept the invitation, we will be on our way.

update - the previous text was deleted; the Gateway Guardian initiative was retired 7 February 2022. Thank you for serving in that role for Obadiah Bruen. The Affiliate sticker was retired last year.

Hi! Thanks for your post to my profile, but I'm not sure what you mean - no trail from Obadiah appears to be ready for review. While the Special:Relationship finder returns a trail between him & Bigod-1, it would probably be better to work on the trail documented by Richardson, which is to Quincy-226.

Using the go-by posted at this page, you fill in the information for Obadiah & Quincy. The Richardson reference is in Space:Trail Tracks - "I:345" means his entry in Magna Carta Ancestry is in Volume I, page 345.

The go-by from Trail Tracks would replace the italicized text under the Magna Carta Project section on Obadiah's profile.

Does that answer the question? Let me know if not.

Cheers, Liz

Hi again! I added the template/project account & enough info to not leave the template's "see text below" hanging.

Could you add the text for the Magna Carta Project section? The copy/paste go-by you want to start with is at the Non-Badged Gateway heading.

Jayme posted a comment on Obadiah's page that identifies the trail she was working on. Base Camp shows the trail to be under review by Chet Snow. You might want to touch base with him.

Cheers, Liz

p.s. I think that Obadiah needs the protection based on his LNAB not being a commonly known spelling. I'll add a project box template & the project account to his profile to support the PPP.

Cheers, Liz

sorry - ran out of room.

Anyway, the participation requirements for the project start with picking a Gateway to be Guardian for. Please choose a Gateway from the table at Category:Gateway Ancestors (one without a "b") & let me know sometime this month or next so I can add you & your Gateway to Space:Trail_Tracks.

The three requirements:

  1. become a Gateway Guardian
  2. develop a trail for that Gateway Ancestor
  3. review & approve a completed trail developed by another project member

See Space:Magna_Carta_Project_Members for timelines for the requirements.

Thanks! Liz

Hi again Mark! Since you joined the project, I haven't heard from you. Changes that began in WikiTree in October with how projects and their profiles are managed have pretty much settled for the Magna Carta project.

Since you did not join Google Group, you've missed all the chatter about it (send a join request from https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/wikitreemagnacarta & include your WikiTree-ID so that I know it's you). You can be a member of the Google Group whether you're a badged member or an affiliate member - see Template:Magna Carta Project Affiliate. the affiliate sticker was retired & the Google Group opened to WikiTree members (rather than just Project members)

To be a badged member, the project now has requirements. Developing a trail is the second. The first is to pick a Gateway to be Guardian for - see Space:Trail_Tracks...

Hi again! To get started in the Magna Carta project, you might want to pick a trail to develop that leads from your Gateway Ancestor to one of the 16 surety barons WikiTree shows that you're related to. Not all the trails that Special:Relationship returns are valid. See https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/428144/wikitree-related-surety-baron-relationships-arent-confident for advice on how to assess the quality of your trails.

Cheers, Liz

P.S. The project defines "Gateway Ancestor" as one listed/documented by Richardson and has tagged them all with Category:Gateway_Ancestors.

Welcome, and thanks for joining the Magna Carta project! Check out the project page for info on how we work & go to Magna Carta Base Camp to get started.

Give me a holler if you have any questions, or you can post in G2G (Magna_Carta).

There is also a Google Group for the project that is tied to WikiTree-36 (the project account). I can send you an invitation to the group if you'll send me a private message (that will give me your e-mail address, which I need in order to send the invite).

Cheers, Liz
