David Carter was born November 28, 1771, in Mount Pleasant, Hyde County, North Carolina, a son of Peter Simon and Sarah Sirmon. [1]
David married four times. His first wife was Esther Sermon (Sirmon?), his second wife, Bethia Farrow, his third wife, Mrs. Mahala (Gibbs) Spencer and his fourth wife, Lurana Jennett. [2]
David's son, David Carter, Jr, the son of his second wife, Bethia Farrow, was the founder of the town of Fairfield. [3]
David Carter, Sr. is found on the First Census of the United States, published in 1790 from tax records of 1783. David resided in Carteret, Hyde County, North Carolina . [4] [5] [6]
David died September 20, 1829, in Hyde County, North Carolina. An inventory of the sale of his estate is found on FamilySearch.org. [7] David is buried in the Fairfield Cemetery, in Hyde County, North Carolina. [8]
