Biography
Richard Carter died at St Columb Major on 4 August 1582 (buried).[1]
Probate: Inq. p.m. 25 Eliz., No 84. John, son and heir of James Carter, his nephew and heir, aet. 26. His will dated 27 Nov 1578, prob. in Lond. 5 Feb 1583.[2] The will of Richard Carter names his nephew, his wife, his sister, a number of other relatives, and Jane Vyvyan and her husband Richard Vyvyan as well as their three children John, Richard, and Oliff (Olive).
"The visitations of Cornwall : comprising the Heralds' visitations of 1530, 1573, & 1620" created by Vivian, J. L. (John Lambrick) 1830-1896 and the College of Arms (Great Britain), contains reproductions of the Herald's visits to Cornwall in addition to church and family records. Jane Carter, daughter of Richard Carter, is listed in the pedigree for the Vivians of Trenowth found on page 533. Richard Vivian is listed as the father of John Vivian, Richard Vivian, and Olive Vivian.[3]
