Biography

My name is Robin Kay Carney. I was born in Oakland California in 1955 to my parents, Jack E. Carney, b 5 Jan 1931, jasper, Pickens, Georgia and Mary "Sue" Bradford, b. 10 Sep 1934, Fairmount, Gordon, Georgia. I have one older sister, Patsy Ann Carney, 3 Mar 1954, Oakland, Alameda, California. My parents moved to California from Northern Georgia in the early 1950's where they lived until their deaths in 1995 and 2007, Both my sister and I were born and live in Northern California. I grew up in Oakland, California during a time when the streets were a safe and fun place for a child to play. California education in the public school system was in the top 3% nation wide. I graduated high school from Skyline High School in Oakland, California and went on to Merritt College for only my freshman year. During my childhood their was so much political unrest. With segregation of Blacks in public schools, Blacks and the right to vote many racial riots broke out across the nation. There was the Peace Movement lead by Martin Luther King, Jr. who left a beautiful legacy not only for people of color, but for all mankind. I living in Oakland was first hand witness to the Black Panther Party and Political Activist Angela Davis. In Berkeley there were the freedom party, the peoples Park movement, and the protest of the Vietnam War. In the local area of the San Francisco Bay Area I was exposed to such great music and to such a variety of music. I was a participant to so many concerts throughout out the bay area for which I cannot recall every band I have seen. Throughout all this unrest in our nation I grew up a happy, smart, fun loving young lady. My career was in the medical/dental field which lasted for many years. I later moved north to the Mendocino Wine country where I now work for The Hopland Band of Pomo Indians Health Department. It is in the job that I have found true happiness and complete fulfillment in my job. I have been given the opportunity by the tribal members of this community to further my education in ways that allow me to help service the community with it's medical needs. I have proven myself to this community that I am here to work for them and give all my best to assist everyone who lives in this community and in doing so I have won their trust and respect as a non native who is truly an asset to the tribe in which I am employed. I am a single woman with one child, my Son, Erik Alan Trumbly, also a native of Oakland, born 13 October 1984. He now resides in the community of Nevada City, California and works in the Health field and also in the Entertainment industries. I am still not a grandmother which is on my bucket list. Unfortunately it has not made it into my son's bucket list to date. I am hopeful that it will soon change,

Thank you, Robin, for volunteering to help grow our worldwide family tree. It sounds like our ancestors migrated through the same areas. :)

Our Honor Code, G2G message forum, help pages, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.

VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

Our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please try very hard not to add any duplicates to our shared tree.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree!
