Biography

Jessie Hassall Campbell was born on 28th March 1834 at Cobbitty, New South Wales, Australia. She was the third daughter and third of ten children of Robert Mackay Campbell and Ann Hassall.^[1]

She married John Macquarie Antill, eldest son of Major Henry Antill of Jarvisfield, Picton, on 16th August 1851 in St Clement's Church of England, Yass, New South Wales.^[2] They had ten children:

• Margaret C (1852-); married Keiy Brown.
• Celia F (1855-60); child mortality.
• John M (1857-59); child mortality.
• Robert Henry (1859-1938); proprietor of the Jarvisfield Estate, Picton, and one of the managing directors of the Farmers' and Dairymen's Milk Company of Sydney.
• Celia F (1861-1928) unmarried.
• Selina Johnston (1863-1920) unmarried.
• John Macquarie Antill (1866-1937); Australian Army Major General.
• Edward Augustus (1868-)
• Guy Forrest (1870-1960); branch manager of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney, at Warren, New South Wales.
• Elizabeth Ann (1871-1927); married Brigadier General Harry Beauchamp Lassetter.

Jessie passed away on 7th February 1917 at Jarvisfield and is buried in the Antill family vault on the estate.^[3] Jessie is said to have been held in high esteem by all who knew her.
