Henry Bush was born about 1831[1]. He was kidnapped in early childhood and brought aboard the slave ship Tribune, arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana in December of 1836, to be enslaved by William H. Williams in Washington, D.C., Washington Deatley in Washington, D.C., and Boyd Simmison in Mobile, Alabama.
Raymoure-1 20:28, 8 April 2020 (UTC): I suspect this isn't Private Henry Bush of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry who gives his birthplace as Baltimore, Maryland, but as I haven't found him in other records yet, profiling to confirm if we can.
Raymoure-1 20:46, 8 April 2020 (UTC): Some thoughts on proceeding from the manifest: there may be bills of sale between the various named enslavers that might show any name changes that may have occurred. Also, for those who haven't worked much on Black American history, please note that slaves were kidnapped from more than just Africa, so we'd need to try to figure out where the Tribune was kidnapping people from in 1836.
