Hello Everyone, let me introduce myself. My name is Allice Burns Reynolds, yes, Allice has two Ls. I began my family history search in about 1981, before computers and definitely before the Internet. I had lost my grandparents and my father all within 6 years, family history was a way to keep them close to me.
In 1939, my maternal grandfather took the time to write a short history of our family on his "Big Chief" tablet paper. He listed my mother, uncle and aunts, my grandmother and himself, with their birth dates and places. Grandpa took our history back four generations. That is where I began my search. Over the years, I found two of the grandmothers listed were not correct, but Grandpa pointed me in the right direction and began my obsession with family. It is a wonderful journey! I have "found" so many cousins I would never have known if not for genealogy.
I still have that first family history written on the "Big Chief" tablet paper.

If something more is required perhaps it would be better to remove my tree members from the US Southern Colonies Project.

The US Southern Colonies Project was relaunched in May 2020 & one requirement was that all members join the Discussion Google Group (joining the more active Project Alerts Google Group is optional). The project also has two participation requirements: (1) that you join a team & (2) that you reply to checkins.
So... if you could reply to this comment, that will take care of (2). Please take a look at the project's teams - listed at Space: US Southern Colonies Teams - and send me a private message letting me know which one(s) you'd like to join. Then I can get you signed up with that team or teams & also add you to the Discussion Google Group.
Thanks!
Cheers, Liz
As you may have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.
Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.
Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.
Many thanks,
Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader

It has been a couple of weeks since we contacted you about your participation in the Southern Colonies Project. As we haven't heard from you, we are following up to make sure you wish to remain a member.
We understand that interests shift, and some members may have moved on to projects pertinent to their ancestors. If this is the case for you, please let us know.
If we do not hear back from you within the week, we will assume you have moved on to other things for the moment and remove you from the project. You will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.
Thank you so much for your participation .

Many projects have had their members polled to see if they feel they are still active.
If you have Virginia ancestors , you may remain a member of Southern_Colonies.
I hope my explanation helps..

I look forward to hearing from you.

Congratulations on your Pre-1700 Self-Certification! Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Or you're interested in a particular time period, location, or topic ? Let me know. I can help you figure out if any Projects fit your interests and introduce you to the Leaders.
Projects are a great way to collaborate on your ancestors' profiles and learn the naming conventions and other standards used for profiles from particular places and time periods.
Have you read Research Before Editing? The Sources Style Guide is also essential reading for working on pre-1700 profiles.
Have fun
