Devereux Browne is a Qualifying Ancestor of the Jamestowne Society

Devereux Browne was a Virginia colonist.

Devereux was born about 1640 in the Virginia Colony. He married Tabitha Scarbourgh before 1660. He was one of the first justices of Accomac county as created anew in 1663, and was burgess in September, 1663. He passed away before 1673 in Accomack County, British Colony of Virginia.

“Tabitha Browne widow …that your Peticon’er [having? Obtained ord’r for Administracon on the Estate of Devorax Browne yr Peticon’rs Husband dec’d also the worship’ Court had appointed Appraisers for ye same, now so it is that ye Peticon’r from time to timedid expect and request these Gentlemen to r—d and appraise ye sd Estate which not being & informed ye Peticon’er – Therefore humbly prays that this Court will please to order the same or other Appraisers so that it may be no Longer delayed.”
