Nicholas John Brown (9 October 1838 – 22 September 1903) was a pastoralist and politician in colonial Tasmania, a Speaker of the Tasmanian House of Assembly.
Nicholas John Brown was the son of Richard Brown a Cooper. Nicholas married Ellen Nicholas in 1870. She was the daughter of Henric Nicholas, a landowner in the Ouse district of central Tasmania
From the 1880s Nicholas John Brown was one of the main supporters of the proposed Australian Federation in Tasmania. Mr Brown was appointed one of the Tasmanian House of Assembly's delegates to the first Federal Convention in 1891 and was elected to attend the later ones in 1897-98.
Unfortunately he died without issue on 22 September 1903.
