Annie was born in 1858 in Haldimand, Northumberland County, Canada West. She was the daughter of James Brown and Jane Whitehead.[1]

Annie married John George Embleton on 3 December 1884 at Hastings, Northumberland, Ontario.[2]

She and her husband had six children, four of whom survived to adulthood: Martha Jane, Robert Whitfield, Homera Elsie, and John Gerald.

When they were first married they lived north of Havelock in a log cabin which is where their first two children, Martha Jane and Robert Whitfield, were born. After that, they moved into a house in Havelock RR #34 (Hennesee House in 1974). It is in this house that Homera Elise and John Gerald were born.

The family eventually purchased a farm in Havelock but moved to Stamford Township in 1905, purchasing a farm on Thorold Stone Road (what was then, the Foulis farm and what was the MacLeod farm in 1974), and after 1918 a farm on Lundy's Lane which is where Annie and John George lived until their deaths.

She and her husband are cited on the marriage of their son, Robert, to Meta Ena Booth in Feb 1910 in Stamford, Ontario. [7]

The census for 1911 shows them living in Stamford Township, Welland sub district with only Homera and John still at home as the older children have now married.[8]

She and her husband are cited on the registration for the marriage of their daughter, Homera, to Joseph Russell in Sept 1921 in Welland, Ontario. [9]

She and her husband are cited on the registration for the marriage of their son, John Gerald in November 1924 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.[10]
