Biography

Charles Arthur Brown was born in Salem, Washington, Indiana on 3 Jul 1870. He was the son of Nehemia Hutcheson Brown and Jane Cauble. In 1880, at 10 years old, he lived with his parents in Washington Township, Gibson, Indiana. ^[1]

The family made the move to Williamson County, Texas shortly after that census, and before his younger sister, Maudie, was born in Georgetown, Williamson, Texas. ^[2]

Charles married Isabella "Belle" Rodina Reams on 16 Jan 1891 in Williamson County. ^[3] They had ten children together.

Belle died in 1928, and in 1930 Charles (60) lived in Fresno, California with his son, Judson. ^[4]

He died in Klamath Falls, Klamath, Oregon on 17 May 1939. ^[5]

Fresno Rancher Dies Suddenly In Oregon

Word was received here of the sudden death Wednesday in Klamath Falls, Ore. of Charles A. Brown, 68, a retired farmer, who made his home here with a daughter Mrs. W. W. Craig, 2809 Belmont Avenue. He died of apoplexy while visiting a son J. D.J Brown.

Brown, a native of Indiana came to Fresno from Texas ten years ago. He left for Oregon four days ago.

Surviving him are four sons, J. D. Brown of Chemult, Ore.; Arthur Brown, Wink, Texas; T. J. Brown, Delano; and E. J. Brown, Bakersfield; and three daughters Mrs. Craig and Mrs. S. T. Price, both of Merced, and Mrs. Robert Peterson, Crosby Texas.
