Étienne Desmarteau was an Olympic athlete who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics, in the United States. He won a gold medal in weight throwing.

Joseph Étienne Birtz, son of Étienne Birtz and Caroline Dubuc, was born 4 February 1873, in Boucherville, Québec. He was a weight thrower.

In the 1881 census Étienne Birtz (age 8) was in Quebec.[1]

In the 1891 census Étienne Birtz (age 17) was the single fils (son) of Caroline Birtz in Boucherville, Chambly, Quebec.[2]

In the 1901 census Étienne Birtz (age 28), Police, was a single fils (son) in Canada, Quebec.[3]

Étienne died on 29 October 1905, in Montréal, Québec and was buried on 31 October 1905 in Boucherville, Québec.[4][5][6]
