Biography

Daniel was born before 1777 in Germany. The only proof we have of this are the reports of his birthplace in the 1880 Census by daughters, Mary and Elizabeth. Mary states both her parents were born in Württemberg, while Elizabeth reports her father was born in Prussia and her mother in Pennsylvania. Daniel left his home in 1809 to "pay on land in a "western country" and never returned, leaving his wife, Mary, with 6 young children to raise alone. The two girls were the youngest, born in 1806 and 1808, so any knowledge of their father would have been from family lore. He is assumed to have passed away about 1809 somewhere on his journey. [1]
