John Lavers Bartram was born on 3 June 1925 at Mount Barker, South Australia. His parents were Roy Douglas Bartram and Dora (Lavers) Bartram.[1][2]
He was educated at Mount Barker State School (South Australia) and Wesley College, Melbourne.[3]He served in the Royal Australian Navy on the HMAS Bundaberg during World War 2.[3]
A sprinter, in 1948, he was picked for the Australian team for the London Olympics.[3]
He married Dawn Mallinson in December 1949 in Victoria.[4][5][6]
John died on 20 November 2014.[2][3]
