Hi Carol, Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project ? Besides links to sources, there are help pages that might also be useful. Cheers, Philip, project research coordinator

Thanks Philip. That would be great.
Hi Coral,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources).

Hi Coral,

I haven't heard back from you to say whether you'd like to remain in the [Wales Project and which team(s) you would like to be on. I hope you are ok. I am going to go ahead and remove you from the project right now but if you'd like to rejoin in the future you would be most welcome. Please see our project page for membership requirements.

Many thanks,

Susie :-)

Hi Coral,

I left a message for you about a week ago to let you know about the restructuring of the Wales Project into new teams and to ask for your team(s) selection and e-mail address so I can add you to the project’s Google group. I’ve not yet heard back from you, so hope you are well, and that everything is ok in your part of the world.

Understanding that we are living in unusual times, I will hang on for another week to make sure that you do indeed want to stay in the project, after which, if I don’t hear from you, I’ll go ahead and remove you. You would, of course, be most welcome to rejoin at any time.

Best wishes,

Susie :-)

Hi Susie,

Everything is as well as can be expected in these crazy times. I hope you and yours are keeping safe and well too.

I'm not sure at all which team I should join? Where would you put a South African with Welsh ancestory :-) warm regards Coral

Hi Coral,

As you will have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the Wales Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know which team(s) you would like to be in.

Please can you also send me your e-mail address? I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders, are in the Google Group, and receive an invitation to join our Discord server.

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the Wales Project that you respond to these check-ins.

Many thanks,

Susie, Wales Project Co-Leader

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi,

I am carrying on the research of my family tree that my late Dad started in the 70s. I am currently back to my great great grandparents on both sides and would love to connect with cousins and verify the information I have.

I agree with the mission of this site and will abide by the nine rules.

regards Coral

Hi,

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to great information about GEDCompare, the process of adding a GEDCOM to WikiTree, that you might find helpful.

If you have any brick walls, collaboration might help bust through. Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.
