Biography

This profile is part of the Baham Name Study.

Louis Jeanbon Baham, son of Jean Baptiste Baham and Françoise Guillory, was baptized circa 6 July 1774 at Mobile, then called West Florida and under English control as a result of the 1763 Treaty of Paris.

He lived with Marie Rousseve, daughter of Marianne des Capuciens (--?--), from circa 1800, and "evidence suggests that Louis had a relationship with Marie that produced 10 known children."[1]

He witnessed the probate of the estate of his father, Jean Baptiste Baham, on 9 July 1814 at St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.

Appeared Renez Baham, Joseph Baham, Baptiste Baham, and Louis Baham of parish of St Tammany and state of Louisiana, as joint heirs of a parcel of land granted by the Spanish government to Jean Baptiste Baham, deceased, situated on the Tchefuncte river and outside the town of Madisonville, applying for division of property. 9 July 1814.[citation needed]

He appeared on the census of 1820 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana:

Baam, Louis (indexed Boam, Lewis) 16 people in household, 16 engaged in agriculture, oldest male 26-45.[2]

He appeared on the census of 1830 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana:

Baham, Louis white 1 male 50-60; 2 female slaves 10-24, 1 female slave 24-36; 1 free colored male under 10; 4 10-26; 3 females under 10; 1 female 10-24; 1 female 36-55.[3][4]

Louis Baham died in Madisonville, Louisiana in 1842.[citation needed]
