She can be found as a girl 10-15 in her father's household on the 1830 census of Hawkins Co., TN[1]. And, she can be found as a woman 20-30 in her widowed mother's household on the 1840 census of Hawkins Co., TN[2].

Her brother, Aaron Anderson (abt.1805-1855), passed in August 1855, leaving a nuncupative (oral will)[5]. Within days, Melvina (as well as her mother & siblings) were summonsed to the court in Rogersville to contest the will[6].
In 1857, her husband brought suit against Aaron's widow, Tabitha (Sizemore) Dodson (abt.1805-abt.1883), over the inheritance of Aaron's estate[7] - the suit explicitly listed Melvina's parents as George & Rhoda Anderson.
John & Melvina are then found together on the 1860[8] & 1870[9] censuses of Hawkins Co., TN. The 1880 census records Melvina as widowed[10].
She gives a deposition in the 1884 Chancery Court suit Henry C Hart V Daniel Anderson & Others outlining her siblings and their children[11].
She is assumed to have passed in Hawkins Co., TN sometime after this deposition.
