From about 2002 and on most my research has been done online with occasional trips to where records are stored when I have the time and finances. My branch of the Andersons starts in Sweden but my grand Fathers parents are still a mystery. So, for now, My family Starts in Trinidad, Colorado where my grandfather was born.
Early Life
John was born in 1960[1][3][5][6] to Nathan Anderson[3][5]and Gail Boswell[3][5] at Rose Memorial Hospital, Denver, Colorado. John is named after his grandfather John Anderson. They resided in Denver. Shortly thereafter his parents bought a house in Northglenn, Colorado. During this time period, his sister Deborah Anderson[3][7], Half Brother Jeremy Anderson[3] and his Half brother Sean Anderson[3] were all born at Rose Memorial Hospital, Denver, Colorado. John's parents Nathan Anderson and Gail Boswell[3] divorced in 1968. His sister Deborah Anderson and half brother Sean Anderson went with their mother. John and his half brother Jeremy Anderson remained with their father in Northglenn. Nathan Anderson and Virginia Szeluga[3] married on 17 Jun 1970 in Northglenn, Adams, Colorado, United States. John's family lived in Northglenn, Colorado until their father bought a Farm 6 miles north of Iliff, Colorado. The family made the 2 hour and 6-minute drive ( at today's speed limit on I-76) every weekend to start preparing the farm to raise Hogs, Chickens and Rabbits. When the School year ended June 1972 the family relocated to Iliff, Colorado.
12 June 1972 Anderson and Anderson Farm started operation in Iliff, Colorado. Owned and operated by Nathan Anderson and his younger brother Orten Anderson and their families, 4 adults and 6 Children[3]. The farm started with 90 sows, 4 boars, 30 chickens, 24 rabbits, 4 bucks and 20 does. Early in the year of 1974 the swine heard caught a disease that caused the piglets to decompose in the sows wombs. The entire heard had to be destroyed. This caused friction between Nathan and his brother. Orten packed up his family and left the farm. Nathan and his family remained to wait for the one year cool down to cleanse the property of the disease. December 1974 a blizzard swept through the area. After a couple of days, the farm lost power. At that time John's father packed up clothes, food, blankets, and his weapons and started a very long and harrowing drive to his grand mother's houseCora Josh in Sterling, Colorado.[3]
After the Storm, the family returned briefly to gather the remainder of their belongs. They found a small two bedroom house in Sterling, Colorado.[8][9]Nathan Anderson filed for bankruptcy and the farm was lost. John remained in Sterling until about 15 December 1975. He was sent to Richardson Texas to live with his mother Gail Boswell and his Stepfather John Johnston. February 1976 the family packed up and moved to Topeka, Kansas.
During the Spring of 1977 during his Junior year in High School[10] John took the ASVAB Test for Military Service. Scoring hi marks in Electronics, Codes, and Sciences. John joined the Army under the Delayed Entry Program. Shortly after during a dispute with his stepfather John ran away from home. His mother and stepfather moved again to an unknown location[3]. 14 July 1978 John entered Active Duty with the US Army. HE remained on Active Duty Until 13 July 1991[2][11][12]. John listed Sterling, Colorado as his home of Record with the Army.
