"Jennie Edwards was born in Orange City, N.C. Jan. 15th, 1813 and departed this life at her home near Dickson, Benton Co., Ark. Nov. 4, 1898 at the advanced aged of 85 years, 9 months and 19 days. Sister Edwards moved to Ash county, N.C. where she married David Edwards Dec. 10, 1835. This union was blessed with eleven children, seven girls and four boys, seven of whom are living. All are professors of religion and Wm. Edwards is a minister of the gospel. She professed religion and joined the Missionary Baptist church in 1839. She often walked eleven miles to attend her church meetings. She and her husband moved to Surry county, N.C. about 1839 after which they moved to Benton county, Ark. in 1859 and untied with the Mt. Pleasant church as one of the charter members, where she remained a consecrated member till death. She was afflicted for several months bearing her afflictions with patience. The remains were taken to the church, followed by a number of friends and relatives, and where many more awaited the arrival of the sad procession, and there the funeral services were conducted by her pastor. After the services the remains were laid away to rest until the resurrection day." W.D. Joyner. Benton County Democrat – Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas – November 17, 1898
↑ 2.02.1 Martha Susan and Shaderic are siblings, children of Bryant Hagins and Irene Edwards (a second cousin to David's father, Richard Clifford Edwards, making this couple third cousins, once removed). Bryant appears to have changed his last name from Higgins to Hagins, and all of his children followed his lead except for his daughter, Martha.

↑ Sterling is listed on most documents as Sterling Andrews, but his daughter, Elizabeth, seems to have exclusively used the Anders spelling before her marriage.
↑ Mahala is listed on this census with the last name of Higgins. She had married Shaderic "Shade" Hagins four years previously, in 1866, and he died the following year, about three months before their daughter, Nettie Belle, was born. She would not remarry and leave home again until 1877, when she married John Lewis Mondier, with whom she would eventually have five more children.

I can find no evidence that Sterling Andrews married a Catherine Cheek, or had any further children after his marriage to Virginia Williams.
The Andrews and Cheek families WERE closely intertwined, however, with Sterling's older brother John marrying Mary Cheek, his older sister Martha marrying Robert Cheek, and finally, his younger sister Jane marrying Richard Cheek, all children of Robert Isaiah Cheek Sr and Anne (Cocke) Cheek
