Ernest was born in Auckland in 1880, the son of Ewen Alison and Mary Coleman
Ernest attended the following Schools Devonport District School, the Auckland Grammar School, and Queen's College.
Ernest married Freda Verne Bartley in Auckland, New Zealandi on 27 OCT 1921
Erne with his brother, Mr. Ewen Alison, founded the legal firm of Alison & Alison. Owing to ill health, he retired from business about 30 years ago. He was for many years a member of the committee of the Takapuna Jockey Club and he took a keen interest in horse racing.
Ernest died 2 MAR 1941 in Auckland, New Zealand he was buried 4 MAR 1941 at O’Neils Point Cemetery, Devonport, Auckland
