Biography

Leonard Earl Aarons was born on Jan. 14, 1932 to Marvin Thomas Aarons and Katherine Christensen.

Leonard served as a Corporal in Company B. of the 14th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in the US Army during the Korean War, enlisting on Jan. 24, 1951.[1] He was killed in action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on May 29, 1953.[2]

Corporal Aarons was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.[3]

Cpl. Leonard E. Aarons' body was among 125 Korean war dead returned aboard the SS Greenbay Victory, which arrived in San Francisco on Jul. 23, 1953. His body was placed in the San Francisco Port of Embarkation mortuary.[4] Leonard Aaron was laid to rest at the Oakes View Cemetery in Oakes, North Dakota.[5][6]
