Fujimoto Hiroshi was born in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture on 1 December 1933; his parents are currently unknown. He graduated from Toyama Prefectural Takaoka Kōgei High School. As Fujiko F. Fujio, he is known for several manga works, including Doraemon, Perman, Kiteretsu Daihyakka, Mami the Psychic and 21 Emon among others. As a member of the duo Fujiko Fujio, Hiroshi collaborated with his partner Abiko Motoo, also known as Fujiko Fujio Ⓐ, on Little Ghost Q-Taro. He died in Tokyo on 23 September 1996.
The copyright on Hiroshi's works in Japan, including Doraemon, is managed by Fujiko F. Fujio Pro. Works by him would enter the public domain in Japan on 1 January 2067. Collaborations with his partner Motoo would not enter the public domain until 1 January 2093 (current as of 7 April 2022).
