Fukuchi Yasokichi, later known as Fukuchi Gen'ichirō, was born in Shikkui-chō, Nagasaki, Hizen-no-kuni on 13 May 1841. He was the chief editor and president of Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shimbun during the early Meiji era. He later served in the Japanese House of Representatives from 1 March 1904 until he died in Tōkyō-fu on 4 January 1906.
