Jamal Ahmad Khashoggi was born in Medina, Saudi Arabia on 13 October 1958. He served as a general manager and editor-in-chief of Al-Arab News Channel and as an editor of Al Walan.[1]
Jamal went into self-imposed exile from Saudi Arabia in 2017. He has since then become critical of the actions of the Saudi Arabian government, writing newspaper articles on the matter.
On 2 October 2018, Jamal entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, but never left the building. As news reports claim that he had been killed and dismembered inside, Saudi and Turkish officials inspected the consulate on 15 October. The government of Saudi Arabia initially denied these claims, but later acknowledged his death on 20 October, claiming that he had been strangled to death after a fistfight.
