"Barbara" was born in 1852 in Russia. She was a very prolific journalist. She married Januarius Aloysius MacGahan ), an American war correspondent in France. She followed him around the front. At first, she wrote in his name, but soon claimed her role writing for more than 13 English and Russian papers, and magazines (often with a liberal bent). She also wrote one novel in English, Xenia Repunina," published in 1890. She applied for a United States passport on 2 April 1883.[1]
At age 52, she died on 28 February 1904 in Manhattan, New York, United States.[2]
