Biography

Genealogically Defined

Willard was born in 1888. He was the son of Washington Zweeres and his wife, Ida (Jacques) Zweeres.^[1][2]

For a time, he lived with his parents and worked as a painter for the railroad.^[3] He served at least two years in the Vermont National Guard, according to his WWI military registration. Willard had broken his right foot before the date of registration and it was noted that he walked with a noticeable limp. By 1920 he was a blacksmith for the railroad, was married, and had a newborn son.

He married Josephine Esther Hakey in Swanton, Vermont on October 10, 1916.^[4] He is 28 and she is 16.

Their first son, Willard Adlard Zweeres, passed away at the age of five with chronic Bright's Disease.^[5] 1920 - 1924.
