Biography

Gaspare was born about 1807-1812 ^[1] to Ignazio Zito and Francesca Barbera ^[2]. In 1833 at age 26, he married 26-year-old Maria with no last name. He was widowed within 5 years. In 1838 (still 26?) he married 19-year-old Rosalia Ventimiglia ^[3]. He and Rosalia had several children. Gaspare had been widowed by Rosalia and was still living as of 24 October 1877 ^[4]. Gaspare was a farmer, per his marriage records.

Research Notes

His marriage records disagree as to his mothers' surname. She is named Francesca Barbera and both the civil and church records for 1833 marriage, and Francesca Barone in the 1838 civil record. correct. Since the 1833 records agree with one another, Barbera is likely the correct surname.
