Tech Sergeant Alfred Zielaskowski was presumed dead after being attacked by enemy aircraft over the North Sea during World War II.
Alfred was born 7 February 1919 in Portland Oregon. He was the son of Thomas Zielaskowski & Jessie Marshall.[1]
Alfred was the flight engineer/top turret gunner aboard the B-24 Bomber, Lucky - #41-24215 on 1 August 1943. The bomber was part of Operation Tidal Wave a low level bombing mission against the oil refineries at Ploesti, Rumania.
Alfred was the flight engineer aboard the B-24 bomber Queenie, #41-24298 on a mission to Bremen, Germany on 13 November 1943 when they went missing over the North Sea. The bomber was last seen being attacked by enemy aircraft. Several days after the mission seven of the crew members bodies washed ashore. Four crew members were never recovered including Alfred.
