John Martin Zettler was the oldest of Mathias Zettler and Catherine Elizabeth Zettler's seven children.[1] Because documentation at this period of our history is murky its hard to determine his circumstances with any accuracy which is important here because John Martin is the oldest son. His father was the first immigrant into New Ebenezer as the colony moved from Old Ebenezer in 1736.[[1].
As Matthias paid his own passage, according to the agreement, he would have had more land (become a land baron), which would mean more product that would be shipped out of the colony down river to Savannah. This means more interaction with business separate from religion. Personal agendas of keeping the family together and healthy would pass to the wife. Its a team. The oldest son is being prepared to take on the responsibility from the time he's little. With no sign of him at this stage, the assumption is he died, probably of malaria as that near the river the mosquito population would be high. The assumption is unless we discover information later, tragically John Martin is this family's first casualty.
Birthdate is a guess. He is listed as the oldest child of Mathias Zettler.[1]
