Pvt Jacob Zeller was born in 1839, Ohio, to Henry Zeller and Catharine. In 1862 he was living in Johnson County, Iowa.
At the age of 23 he enlisted in the Union Army on 12 August 1862. He was mustered into Company H, 22nd Regiment, Iowa Infantry on the 27th.[1][2]
Pvt. Zeller was mortally wounded in Jackson, Mississippi on 12 July 1863. He died from his wounds on 14 July 1863 at Jackson, Mississippi.
He is buried in the Vicksburg National Cemetery, Section O, #3801.[3]
A pension was taken out by his wife, name wasn't on pension, and for minor child.[4]
