Ida Alice HITTLE of Rochester, a prominent figure in local politics and 1985 Indiana state Republican Woman of the Year, died at 6:19 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital. A resident of 118 W. 15th St., she was 64 years of age. She had lived most of her life in Rochester, and from 1972-79 she was the city's First Lady while her husband Wayne was serving two terms as mayor. She had been constituent representative in Fulton County of U.S. Sen. Richard LUGAR since 1977, and was a member of the Fulton County Republican Women's Club and Kappa Delta Phi Sorority. She also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rocheser, of which she was a former elder.

Mrs. Hittle was born Jan. 22, 1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Bert and Hilda A. CHARLES YOUNG. On May 22, 1944 at Rochester, she married Wayne T. HITTLE, who survives.

Surviving with the husband are two daughters, Mrs. James (Pam) EIKENBERRY, Rochester, and Debbi HITTLE, San Carlos Park, Fla.; three grandchildren, Scott Lewis EIKENBERRY and Jason and Jessica HALL. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lionel and Malcolm YOUNG.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Rochester, with the Rev. John RAMSEY officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. ad 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester, and at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Heart or Lung association.
