Hi Suzy,

It is once again time for our annual Ireland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

  1. If you would like to continue as an Ireland Project member. If your answer is yes, please tell us if you are happy with your current team, or if you would prefer to join a different one. If you are currently participating in more than one team we would appreciate you ranking them in their order of importance to you, from highest priority to lowest. This information will be helpful as we consider possible future changes to our team structure.
  2. In the past, the project has had a very minimal membership requirement (one contribution per year) for badged members to meet. Do you believe this is adequate, or should this requirement be increased? What do you believe would be a reasonable commitment to expect from all project members?
  3. How active have you been in the Ireland Project over the past year? Please choose one of the following options: a) I normally spend 1-5 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. b) I normally spend 6-10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. c) I spend over 10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. d) I am not able to contribute every month but have spent approximately ________ hours during the past year improving Irish profiles.
  4. Please provide feedback on any things you’d like to see the project do more of in the future.

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you no longer are able to participate in the Ireland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

Many thanks for all that so many of you have contributed to the project in the past year, and very special thanks to those who answered the project’s call and gave generously of their time to be part of Team Seanchaithe during the most recent connect-a-thon. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jen sadly not only is my mobility and dexterity disability worse I am chronically ill and unable to go online often...I do wish to remain connected to the Irish project. I moved from UK to Ireland 33 years ago and am approximately 35 years working on my family tree My dna results are over 52% irish with my 2nd 3rd 4th & 5th grandparents born in Ireland and moved by 2nd generation to Yorkshire England. When I can see to read and can type I do try to help on wiki tree but unfortunately the pain is often so bad and my sight and dexterity not good enough to do anything. I am sorry. I do what I can when I can but its impossible to give definite times or days when am able to visit my tree. Best regards Suzy

Hi Suzy,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

  • If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

I look on gedmatch to compare when DNA is available with a kit #

A very helpful search tool on gedmatch shows A short list of people who match both Suzy Young and I.( people who match both kits, or 1 of 2).does anyone have more detail as to the real connection if a list of people match both kits in this example ; matches Suzy Young and I both?

Most of these are probably distant.( which most are for me and my searches). It’s a fun tool when I get some wiki email lists of people with different degrees from.it’s very interesting to see what you can find.

Hi Suzy! Magna Carta Project Affiliate members add a sticker to their profile, which you've done (although your profile's privacy level prevents it from being seen by anyone not on your trusted list).

You've got another month before you're eligible to become a badged members, who also have participation requirements - the first of which is to select a Gateway Ancestor to be guardian for, and that's needed in order to become a badged member. See details in our Join G2G and here. See the list of Gateways here - select one that is neither badged nor already with a guardian. Give a holler if you have questions (to me, in the Google Group, or in G2G tagged magna_carta).

Cheers, Liz

Hi again Suzy! I just noticed that you've removed your Affiliate sticker, which makes you ineligible to be a member of the project's Google Group. If you'd like to remain in the Google Group, please re-add the sticker. Thanks!

So sorry Just noticed this What sticker did I remove please Liz Forgive late reply am chronically ill

So sorry you're ill. Don't worry about the sticker... the one I was referring to has now been retired. However, I removed you from the Magna Carta Project's Google Group when I didn't hear back from you. When we retired the sticker, we also opened the Project's Google Group to any active WikiTree member who wanted to join. If you'd like to re-join the Google Group, please send another request from https://groups.google.com/g/wikitreemagnacarta

Cheers, Liz

Hi Suzy, I do not know if I connected with DNA because I'm relatively new to all this and not figured out how the DNA matching works. I know that my Godfrey ancestors were born in Ireland and came to America about the 1850s. Other than that I've hit a wall in my research. I should have my Godfrey tree line up on my profile soon

Hi Suy and thanks for your message.

I’ve added the Irish Roots Project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on Irish Roots Project will take you to the first page of the project. I've added your good self to the member interest page. Here you can let others know which counties or names you are researching etc.

Thanks for joining the project and good luck with your research.

Hi again! Congrats on getting the sticker to work. Feel free to delete any of my posts about it. Give a holler (to me, G2G tagged Magna_Carta, or the Google Group) if you have any questions.

Thanks for joining the Magna Carta Project!

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Based on your tags the England Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.
