My husband and I met on a blind date in Ann Arbor, Michigan on New Years Eve 1958, we were engaged Christmas 1959, and married on the 4th of July 1960. We thank all of you for celebrating these special dates with us each year!
Education:
Maribeau B. Lamar high school, Houston TX grad. 1951
Rice Institute (now Rice University) Houston TX. BA 1955 (cost $11/yr yearbook & student health fee)
UTMB (Universty of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston) M.D. 1959 (tuition $25/semester)
My parents could not have paid the cost of an MDs education without my very good fortune in being accepted into Rice and then into the UTMB. There is a very long story here.
The summer after my freshman year at Rice our Girl Scout troop spent three months in Europe. In Paris we met Helen Keller; our names were spelled into her hand and then she felt our faces! In London we met Lady Baden Powell. We saw Winston Churchill leaving No. 10 Downing St. It was a wonderful trip.

Her LNAB was her mother's Bar (umlaut-a) and then back to some ordinary german names along another line: Schmid, Herrmann, Schneider, etc.
She came to the USA under rather dire conditions, as the only one in her immediate family who lived. The tree is Hilse-40.
