Hi Penny,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting your Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi Penny. Can you take a look at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dolman-318

As part of this weekends source-a-thon I checked the parish register and there is a record of a Mary Dolman on 13 Apr 1800 at Alrewas to Moses and Elizabeth Dolman. I checked the date of 20 Oct 1811 shown in the biography a wikitree for an Elizabeth to a Joseph and Mary but the record does not appear in the parish register. Could you see what you think?

Penny

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are coming together and you've enjoyed getting to know us a little better.

You're getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now and collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Questions?? Just ask! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

PS-Good work so far! Have you noticed on ancestor profiles on bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try sometime!

Hi there! My name is Vicky (Freeth) Majewski and I am a WikiTree Mentor.

I'm just checking in to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far? Any questions? Any issues?

Feel free to contact me via my profile page. I am happy to help!

Penny, could you remove the number from your first name? Thanks! Since we're a shared global tree we make sure to keep any personal coding systems out of our name fields. We have a great page with more than you ever wanted to know at Help:Name Fields.

Welcome!

Penny,

You are now a confirmed member and can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. For that reason we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use the site. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow you'll hear from a WikiTree mentor, who will check in to see how you're doing and to answer any questions you might have.

Next week you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can meet some of our members by joining in on our Question of the Week: "Do you have any inventors in your family tree?"

Welcome!

Hi Penny!

Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started. :-)

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

Confirm your email address, and you’ll be given an opportunity to fill in the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests. If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, please fill out the Tags on your profile page and click Save Tag(s) and Volunteer.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

Thanks, Cindy
